Description

Entry 20.  The Toxic Two Toe orekroark are a very unique population effectively stranded on a solitary island near the sister continent.  Their home is contaminated with a kind of mineral that causes genetic destruction in many of the living things that inhabit it.  Over time through each generation these rapid mutations changed a little bit more about them; fewer feathers, the deconstruction of flight feathers, smaller, more arm-like wings, and the trademark fusion of fingers and toes.  However, these mutations also ravage the health of each new generation, and the population is becoming smaller and smaller.  Two toes are aware of what is happening to them.  They have not found a way to leave, and have simply adopted some rules to control how severe each generations illnesses are.  Those that are too ill, or have managed to form excessive mutations, such as extra limbs, cancers or lack of limbs, obvious internal problems are severe psychological impairments are not allowed to mate and are usually swiftly sterilized (if they are not already).
Two toes are otherwise simple.  They utilize simple tools, and hunt and gather small prey and resources available to them, without having to combat any large predators.  They are not a kind people, as they have adopted a stern disposition.  The only thing they know about any other species, or other places is what has been shared to them through old skewed stories from their ancestors.

Amazing work!
I love the pose in this one and the unusual angle, it really brings the subject to life and you've dealt with all of that tricky perspective and anatomy just perfectly, looks absolutely spot-on! :D (haha, as for my noodles... YIKES. Noodle perspective wrecks your brain.)

An interesting story indeed behind this population, and a rather sad one as they understand the inevitability of what is happening to them but are powerless to do anything to change it - they can perhaps control things to an extent by preventing those who are too badly damaged from mating - but even so, this can't halt the unfortunate progress, only slow it down...
I can't help but wonder though how they have arrived there, and how they have become so isolated... and how they have been unable to return to the continent. The fact that they would be mostly flightless has something to do with it, I am sure... though I can't help but wonder how they have not managed to attempt to build rafts or other such things to get off the island - though I am sure there are reasons for this. :D (or perhaps many have tried but there have been reasons why such attempts have been unsuccessful, and the later generations have given up trying and have just adapted to the way of life that is left to them.)
