Description

I was asked by a few people to do some expressions accommodating the frills that are present on male Hroanran. Here are some, I haven't gone further than some basic things. as you can see, males probably can't get away with hiding their thoughts because of their expressive frills. this includes a common greeting between hroan; where the frills are slightly splayed and lifted but relaxed, usually a signal of recognition that another is there and a greeting with a sound or open mouth.
submission; where a Hroan will bow its head and splay its frills to expose its neck and hide its face to the dominating being. The bare neck can also be used as a sign of trust to something other than another Hroan. Often used when meeting/consulting with roarks.
aggression; the frills are splayed, high and flapping. This is usually to show a sense of anger, rage and general outward aggression in both a defensive and offensive way. It is threatening and insulting also to show the top front beak and outcomes usually come to competition.
Expectancy/excitement; described normally with high held frills angled back to create a crest on the back of the head.
agitation/discomfort; Described with the frills being held back and slightly splayed. This is a passive aggressive motion, normally seen in a Hroan who has submitted but is not comfortable.
surprise/alarm; can be a positive or negative motion. frills are high, splayed and tend to shoot up at the moment of surprise. this can be a surprise of pleasure, or defensive and might possibly save the Hroan from a predator by spooking it with frill movement. usually followed immediately by other positioning.
