Description

More Hup animal speculation doodling.  These critters came out of a strange situation of exhaustion a while ago, and I remembered to doodle them today.  Not totally sure which category of animal they fit in yet, or if I even truly want it there.  It does not fit into the normal category that most Hup animals I work on fall under (the hexapods; animals with 6 limbs or descendants of such), but it can fit into another which I haven't really touched much into yet.  They remind me heavily of some kinds of caterpillars/maggots with accents of tardigrade and slug.  I imagine it's skin to be leathery in texture, and for it to be slow moving, constantly head down to feed.
These things are decently large, maybe somewhere around the length of a good sized flatbed truck or longer.  I keep thinking they'd either be wandering around flat marshes where they would be herbivores, or wandering around the depths of the fungal forests where they would be fungivores (and likely a big game source for orekroarks that dwell in the fungal forests). The end of their snout is soft and squishy, especially around the mouth, which is stuck in an endless frown.  The lower jaw can open and close a lot like a cap, and they have split, spoon shaped tongues for rasping surfaces for fungi, slimes and molds, algaes, soft plant leaves and fruit/root juices which it may grind against a toothless palate.

They could also be an introduced species; set free deliberately to replace an ecologically similar species that went extinct during the Leeching or by accident, like a spaceship carrying living cargo crashing down.
